Roadgoose is a driving map. Using it means you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Who we are
Roadgoose ("we") makes the Roadgoose app and runs roadgoose.com. You can reach us at hello@roadgoose.com.
This is a beta
Roadgoose is in public beta. Features may change, break, or disappear between builds. We may stop or pause the beta at any time. If you install through Apple's TestFlight or the Google Play closed test, their own terms apply as well.
Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old to use Roadgoose. If you are under 18, use it with a parent's or guardian's permission.
Drive safely, and use your judgment
- Roadgoose is an aid, not a driver. You are responsible for your vehicle, your route, and obeying the law wherever you drive. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel; set things up before you move.
- Maps, routes, hours, prices, cameras and plate-reader locations can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Plate readers and traffic cameras come from public sources such as OpenStreetMap and state road agencies; a reader may be missing from the map, or shown where it no longer is. Do not rely on Roadgoose to decide whether you are being recorded.
- Nothing in Roadgoose is legal advice or a promise about what any device, agency or company does with your data.
No account
There is nothing to sign up for. Your settings, favourites, drive log and mileage log live on your phone. If you delete the app or lose the phone without your own backup, that data is gone, and we cannot recover it for you: we never had it.
What you send to other drivers
Some features let you share things with other people: Honks (road reports), gas price reports and confirmations, camera fixes, and messages inside a gaggle.
- Keep it about the road. Do not send anything unlawful, threatening, hateful, harassing, or that identifies or targets a person. Do not send false reports or false prices. Honks pass through an automatic filter, and we may remove anything that breaks these rules.
- By sending a Honk, a price or a camera fix you allow us to show it to other drivers and to include it in the data we publish. Driver-reported gas prices are published as open data under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 licence (CC BY-NC 4.0), with nothing about who reported them. Companies that want to use that data commercially should ask data@roadgoose.com.
- Messages, positions and voice inside a gaggle go only to the people in that gaggle, end-to-end encrypted. Please do not add people to a gaggle who have not agreed to be in it.
Price
Everything is free during the beta. Some extras may cost a little later; founders stay free.
Your privacy
How the app handles data is described on the privacy page. It is part of these terms.
Map data and other people's work
Map data is from OpenStreetMap and its contributors, under the Open Database License. Traffic cameras, road conditions, weather and other feeds come from public agencies and open sources credited inside the app. Their terms apply to that data. Roadgoose's name, the goose and the app's own design belong to us; please do not pass them off as yours.
Things you may not do
- Use the app or our servers to harm, overload or probe them, or to scrape data in ways the published feeds do not allow.
- Send automated or bulk reports, or pretend to be more than one driver.
- Use Roadgoose to follow or track another person without their consent.
No warranty
Roadgoose is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty we can lawfully exclude, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. Roads change faster than maps.
Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss that comes from relying on the app's information, from a feature being unavailable, or from data on your phone being lost. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, which during the beta is nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, so some may not apply to you.
Ending things
You can stop using Roadgoose at any time by deleting the app. We may block a phone from sending reports if it breaks these terms. Because there is no account, there is nothing of yours for us to close or delete on our side.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms we will update this page and, where we can, say so in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Roadgoose after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled by talking to us first will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Idaho, and you agree to their jurisdiction.
